ENQUIRIES, 419 Etc.

We have been getting a lot of enquiries from folks outside Nigeria about confirming the existence of some banks, finance houses, travel agencies and the works. In all the instances, the "firms" they are seeking information about more often than not, are fake.

As much as we would like to help, we are not in position to do so, as we are a directory, not a private detective agency. We have neither the time or resources to attend to these enquiries.

We try as much as possible to vet submissions to Nigeria Galleria. However, use of the directory is subject to our Terms and Conditions of Use.

The Federal Government of Nigeria is quite worried about Nigeria's negative image online, a significant damage inflicted on the whole country by an insignificant but active minority. To go after the scammers and 419-ers, the government has set up an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. This body is empowered to smoke out, arrest, prosecute and jail anyone involve in corruption, scams etc online and offline.

For the present, please for bank and finance related enquiries, visit the Central Bank of Nigeria http://www.cenbank.org website and submit your enquiries there.

And for other enquiries, please visit the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission website http://www.efccnigeria.org and submit your enquiries. They will be glad to help. They are paid, equipped and empowered to do so.

As a general advice, to escape the trap of scammers without borders:

Do not fall in love online. Get real.

If something is too good to be true, it is. If someone promises you millions of dollars for using your account, and you fall for it, you need to visit a shrink.

It is not possible to win a lottery you never played. If you believe in Santa, then you must be three years old.

Banks do not send e-mails to customers asking for their details. As a general rule, do not click on e-mail links to visit secure sites. Type in the URL by yourself, a URL you are very familiar with, and have visited several times before.

If you want to get rich quick, play the lottery. If you try your luck online, you will surely fall into the waiting hands of scammers.

Most importantly, do not allow greed or cyber "love" switch off your brains...

We will no longer entertain enquiries on these matters. Thank you for using Nigeria Galleria.
