A Thought Can Change Your Life - By Guest Columnist O.F. Henry
Over one hundred years ago, a young man was faced with a misfortune. His
business premises were razed down by a strange fire. It was in a period of
serious economic depression in the United States of America. He lost everything
he had worked for in the inferno including an impressive manuscript he had put
together, which contained his personal philosophy.
His friends believed he had come to the end of the road. They watched him
closely, suspecting he may commit suicide. One morning, he woke up and walked
across the street to buy an exercise note book and began to write again. Soon,
he came up with a best selling book like Initiate to the front, and other
titles. He went on to publish a magazine called WISDOM TACTICS which helped to
sharpen the thinking of American Entrepreneurs and empowered people to be the
best they wanted to be. The philosophy of self-help had come to stay as Orison
Swett Marden, Samuel Smiles, Napoleon Hill, Clande Bristol, Kopemeyer, Sydney
Brerner, Clement Stone, Charles Hanen and many others spread the good news that
every man had been given the divine right to sharpen their destinies. Once you
start studying the thoughts of these great minds, you discover that you are
tapping into a huge vortex of knowledge; a sea of wisdom that never runs dry.
Life is a relay race. We are always receiving and passing baton of ideas in our
journey through life. A true idea lives beyond the discoverer. It is universal,
if you don’t do something about the ideas floating into your mind, someone else
would turn them into gold.
That was what Sanmil Murakami did. He was a young man buffeted by failures in
every business he tried. His name was synonymous with failure. This was a man
who did not have a university education; had no money; had no rich relations and
friends. He was on his own. But, he had a thought. He believed that the
principles of success are universal. It was his conviction that if wisdom
tactics magazine was helping. The Americans with the principles of personal and
business success, he could publish a similar magazine to help the entrepreneurs
in Japan. It was not easy. He believed in the idea. He wrote a plan. He took
action by sharing the idea with those he felt could finance the project. He
showed them what benefits awaited them and worked towards its actualization
because he believed in his project, others believed in him and in a few years,
the magazine became a super success selling over a hundred thousand copies per
month. And then the idea moved on to a man and his wife living somewhere in the
biggest most popular and influential black nation the world. That idea attracted
other ideas and a unique product was born WISDOM TACTICS
It has been five years since a beacon of light began to shine in a nation, whose
people had lost direction; where grouping in the dark for a future that didn’t
seem to exist. But by prayer, hard work, diligence, persistence and vision,
Wisdom Tactics has come a long way bringing laughter to homes, putting bread on
the table of many, making many millionaires, saving people from suicide,
recognizing and honouring excellence and building a positive mental attitude
coupled with integrity.
