World Athletics Championship: Ese Brume Wins Nigeria’s First Medal

Ese Brume wins Nigeria’s first medal at the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Doha, Qatar. The 23-year-old jumped a distance of 6.91m to win bronze medal in the Women’s Long Jump events.

Brume however becomes the first athlete after Blessing Okagbare to reach the podium in the history of the championship Nigeria’s Ese Brume jumped her way into glory at the ongoing 2019 World Athletics Champions in Doha, Qatar, after winning the country’s only medal so far at the events.

The 23-year-old won bronze medal in the Women’s Long Jump event after covering a distance of 6.91 meters in the finals. She however became the second Nigerian athlete after Blessing Okagbare to win silverware at the World events since 2013.

She said before her jump: “I’m believing God because I’ve worked hard. I just have to go in there, believing in the process, hoping that by the grace of God I’ll do well.”
