Wike’s Anointed Candidate Fubara Wins Rivers Governorship Election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Similanayi Fubara, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in Rivers State.

Announcing the result in Port Harcourt, on Monday night, the Returning Officer for the election, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Professor Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, said Fubara polled 302,614 votes to beat his distant rival, Tonye Cole of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 95,274 votes.

Fubara is the anointed candidate of the incumbent Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Senator Magnus Abe, and Labour Party (LP)’s Beatrice Itubo, came a distant third and fourth with 46,981 and 22,224 votes respectively.
