Fidelity Bank empowers women entrepreneurs.

Fidelity Bank appoints ED

Fidelity Bank Plc has empowered women entrepreneurs as part of efforts to break gender bias in Nigeria and boost financial inclusion.

The bank said this was part of activities to celebrate the 2022 International Women’s Day, when it organised a networking event specifically meant for women to inspire one another, discuss pertinent challenges they face as well as proffer solutions on breaking the gender biases prevalent in the country.

It said in a statement that the event, which was held in Lagos featured several notable personalities including former World Bank Vice President and keynote speaker at the event, Dr. ObyEzekwesili; Folorunso Alakija; Bola Shagaya, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie; Opral Benson, Onari Duke, Eileen Shaiyen, Mrs. UjuIfejika; Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, Florence Ita-Giwa; Nkiru Anumudu; amongst others.

According to the statement, aside from celebrating Nigerian women’s achievements in various industries and drawing attention to the issue of gender inequality, the event also served as a platform for the bank to officially launch its programme tagged, ‘Her Fidelity’.

The Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity Bank Plc, Mrs Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe said, “Despite the challenges women face, we continue to play a significant role in driving the economic, social and cultural development of our communities.”
