Early Life

Peter Odemwingie is a striker, born on 15 July 1981 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Peter began his youth career in Russia, to where he moved at early age. The footballer’s last academies were KAMAZ and CSKA-2, which gave him an opportunity to prepare for the senior start.

In 2000 Peter transferred to Nigeria National League club Bendel Insurance. He performed for the team during two seasons, made 53 appearances and netted 19 goals, which made him a tempting option for various European clubs.

French side La Louvire lodged a bid for the striker and finalized the deal in the summer 2002, when Odemwingie signed a long term contract. He played as a striker during two seasons as well, but managed to score only nine goals in 44 matches. The footballer made a very encouraging display and that is why many different clubs continued to track his success. French side Lille decided to secure the services of the striker and signed him in the summer 2004. Peter spent three years in the new club, made 75 appearances and amassed 23 goals.

In 2007 Odemwingie moved to Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow, where he performed during three years as well, took part in 75 games and fired 21 goals. In 2010 the footballer was lucky to make positive changes in his life by penning a contract with English side West Bromwich Albion. Peter got to the starting line-up in 2010/2011 and chipped in a lot of goals, which certainly satisfied the coaching staff as they worked hard on the player’s compliance with the level of English football. The following season Odemwingie and the club continued their steady rise up to the top of the league table and took honorable 10th place.

After Odemwingie failed to complete a move to QPR without giving a notice to the management of West Bromwich in the winter 2013, he was not let on the pitch for the rest of the season and was only able to join Cardiff City in September 2013. In January 2014 Peter was swapped for Kenwyne Jones and joined Stoke City.

From 2002 Peter has been capped for the Nigeria national team, where he made 55 appearances and contributed nine goals.
