INTRODUCTION
 DR. MRS BOLANLE AWE was born in Nigeria in 1933. She started her primary school education at Holy Trinity School, Omofe-Ilesha, St James Primary School, Okebola, Ibadan, and St Anne's School, Ibadan. She took her A-levels at the Perse School in Cambridge. She graduated M.A (Hons) History from St. Andrews University Scotland in 1958 and D.Phil History from University of Oxford, England in 1964. She joined the staff of University of Ibadan in 1960 as a Lecturer and rose to the position of a Professor in 1976. Professor Awe has held various Administrative positions at the University of Ibadan and other Universities across the world and also in the Public service as Commissioner for Education and Commissioner for Trade, Industries and Cooperatives in the old Oyo State Government of Nigeria.
Foremost and internationally professor of sociology and head Institute of African Studies.
 Under her nose, the institute used to be one of the best globally.

 EDUCATION
DR. MRS BOLANLE AWE attended Holy Trinity School, Omofe-Ilesha, St James Primary School, Okebola, Ibadan, and St Anne's School, Ibadan. She did her A-levels at the Perse School in Cambridge. She went to St Andrews University in Scotland where she obtained masters in history, before taking a doctorate in history at Oxford University.

LECTURING CAREER 
She joined the staff of University of Ibadan in 1960 as a Lecturer and rose to the position of a Professor in 1976.
In 1998 she retired as a lecturer and in year 1999 the department of African studies published a small book about her. After her retirement she continued to research and in 2005 she became the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria in Nsukka.

DR. MRS BOLANLE AWE held various Administrative positions at the University of Ibadan and other Universities across the world and also in the Public service as Commissioner for Education and Commissioner for Trade, Industries and Cooperatives in the old Oyo State Government of Nigeria.

LOVE, MARRIAGE AND CHILDREN
On 25th December 1960 she married Olumuyiwa Awe an Emeritus Professor of Physics, University of Ibadan. They later have children.
