INTRODUCTION
Zaynab Alkali was born in 1950 at Tura-Wazila in Borno State. Her Islamic family came from a Tura-Wazila in Borno State, Nigeria, and later they moved to a Christian village in Gongola State, where she was brought up. She went to Bayero University and graduated with BA in 1973.She obtained a doctorate in African Literature in English in the year 1979 in the same university, and became the principal of Sakera Girls' boarding school.

EDUCATION
She started her primary school education at Waka Girls Boarding (Primary) School, Biu,
And later to  Queen's School, llorin, Kwara State,  Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; She graduated from Bayero University, Kano, with a BA in 1973, obtaining an MA in African Literature in English in 1979.

CAREER 
She was a Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Maiduguri; Borno State. She later left University of Maiduguri to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency in Abuja for three years before she left for the Nasarawa State University.She spent twenty-two years at the University of Maiduguri and some years in Bayero University, Kano.

LOVE, MARRIAGE AND CHILDREN
She married Prof. Muhammad Nur Alkali a former Vice Chancellor and the marriage was blessed with six children.
