Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority (AIRBDA) is one of the twelve River Basin established in 1976 Decree No. 25. It is a Federal Government Parastals under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

The Administrative Headquarters is located at Agbala in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State. With the amended Decree No. 35 of 1987, the functions of the Authority were revealed to involved the development of Water Resources of its catchment areas.

Airbda was established to develop and manage surface and ground water resources within our area of coverage, and provide access to safe and adequate water for domestic, industrial, flood control and agricultural purposes to enhance quality of life of the people and promote the socio-economic development of the country.

Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority (AIRBDA) is into multifarious activities like:

  • Provision of water for all and sundry
  • Processing of Palm Oil
  • Snail Farming
  • Fish Farming
  • Making water available for Irrigation and town supply
