The Federal School of Statistics was established in 1947 and was later accredited by MBTE under the Statistical Act of 2007 to operate her three campuses at Ibadan, Kaduna and Enugu.

The high level of academic standards maintained by The Federal School of Statistics, which has enabled her to produce world-class scholars, is acknowledged worldwide.

Federal School of Statistics has over the years concluded various arrangements with relevant agencies to update information available to statistical personnel for effective support of the national development effort.
We are simply explained as a citadel of learning which is being supervised by a government parastatal where the process of planning, collecting, organizing, summarizing, presenting and analyzing data as well as drawing valid conclusion and making reasonable decision on the basis of such analysis is taught in our colleges ground.
The Federal School of Statistics offers various Statistical Major Courses at different levels. Apart from the Major Courses, other courses of short duration are being offered to train qualified junior government officers to become a Junior Professional Statisticians.

The School aim is to promote study and research into statistical skills and knowledge.
