Government Technical College, Ikorodu is one of the five (5) Technical Colleges owned by the Lagos State Government, it was established in 1986 by the Lagos State Ministry of Education in accordance with the Education Law of the State.
At the commencement, in September 1986 the college started as a pre-vocational Centre with few students spread over four courses namely,
1. Business Studies
2. General Welding
3. Painting and Decoration Craft
4. Refrigeration and Airconditioning
In 1988, the status of the College was raised to a full-fledged Technical College with more students. At the moment, the College runs Seventeen (17) occupational trades.
The main objective of the College is to produce qualified middle-level manpower in four (4) Trades, namely: – Engineering, Construction, Miscellaneous and Business trades with a view of generating a pool of indigenous trained middle-level manpower to meet the needs of the Lagos State and Nigeria in general.
The College is located at 28, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Oke Ota-Ona, Ikorodu.
