Metallurgical Training Institute is a Parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development. The institute is mandated to train Nigerians in the area of maintenance engineering with the aim of fast-tracking technological development in Nigeria.
The Institute was established in 1981 as a result of bilateral agreement between the Governments of Nigeria and Germany
