Goal 7 of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) aims at a global provision of readily available, affordable, reliable and sustainable modern energy for all by 2030. In Nigeria however, nearly all facets of sustainable energy progress fall short of this expectation. Sustainable improvements therefore, will require reasonable levels of financial and audacious government policy objectives, as well as the willingness of Energy institutions and stakeholders in Nigeria to accommodate modern technologies and innovation that can help achieve this goal as set out in SDG Goal 7; while being mindful of the impact of such technologies on the environment.
Pro-Earth Environmental Services in collaboration with the Centre for Petroleum Energy and Economics and Law (CPEEL) of the University of Ibadan is hosting the first ever Nigerian Energy Transition and Environment Forum (NETEF) to offer a platform for stakeholders and policymakers to network and brainstorm towards achieving a sustainable environment and energy future for Nigeria.
