Nigeria set best, fastest time record in 100m

Nigeria’s athletes on Day 11 of the African Games in Morocco, Nigeria’s athletes maintained dominance in their races, qualifying for the finals.

Apart from Blessing Okagbare who was disqualified for a false start, others set records in the 100mevent on Monday.

On her part, Joy Udo-Gabriel led in the Women’s 100m heat four with a new season best of 11.45secs.

In the men’s 100m race, Adeseye Ogunlewe ran in Heat 3 and came first in 10.36secs, Usheoritse Itsekiri returned a faster time of 10. 27secs to lead the pack in Heat 4.

Itsekiri ran the fastest time of all the three heats in the men’s 100m semi-finals, winning Heat 2 with a time of 10.25secs. In Heat 1 of the men’s semis, Seye Ogunlewe finished fourth in 10.45secs.

In Heat 3 of the men’s 100m semis, Raymond Ekevwo opened a big gap, then eased off at the line to comfortably win the race in 10.26secs, the second fastest time overall in the three races.

Edose Ibadin qualified for the semis, finishing third in his race with a time of 1:50.46.
