Nigerian paytech Flutterwave has appointed Gurbhej Dhillon as its new chief technology officer (CTO) as the company looks to scale.

Dhillon joins Flutterwave from Goldman Sachs, where he was managing director, technology fellow, CTO and head of lending engineering for Marcus, the multinational’s lending platform.

At Marcus, he was responsible for launching platforms to significantly grow businesses while improving customer experience, establishing strategic partnerships with several Fortune 500 companies.

Speaking on his appointment, Dhillon says Flutterwave is “well positioned to capitalise on the global trends in payment digitisation and continue to drive Africa’s digital transformation, creating further opportunities for customers and merchants alike”.

As CTO, Dhillon will be tasked with developing the fintech platform’s architecture and infrastructure, as well as providing leadership to other engineering and product leaders.

Flutterwave also recently appointed a new chief financial officer (CFO), Oneal Bhambani, who joined from American Express, where he served as vice president, CFO and head of capital markets of Kabbage, a fintech platform offering credit, banking and payments solutions.
