Transcorp appoints new independent non-executive director

Transcorp Hotels grows profit by 172%

Transcorp Hotels Plc has announced the appointment of Ms Bolanle Onagoruwa as an independent non-executive director on the board of the company.

The company announced this in a statement by its Company Secretary, Kofo Olokun-Olawoyin.

“We write to formally notify the investing public and the Nigerian Exchange Limited that pursuant to the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act and the Articles of Association of Transcorp Hotels Plc, the Board of Directors of the Company on December 17, 2021, approved the appointment of Ms Bolanle Onagoruwa as an independent non-executive director on the board of the company, effective December 17, 2021,” it said.

According to the statement, Onagoruwa has over 30 years of private and public sector professional experience covering commercial legal practice.

It noted that she worked with the Bureau of Public Enterprise in various directorate capacities for 12 years and retired as its director-general in 2012.

The statement said, “Post-retirement, she served as acting Chief Executive Officer of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company before joining ENL Consortium Limited.

“She was also an independent director of NOVA Merchant Bank from 2017 to 2021.”

According to the statement, Onagoruwa is a lawyer by profession, who holds an LLB from the University of Lagos, a Post Graduate Diploma in Politics and International Relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury, and an alumna of the Harvard Business School.
