UNIZIK Students Top Studies In Chinese As 100 Bag Scholarships.

AWKA – Twenty-four students of the Confucius Institute of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka were among the 35 that passed the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) translated as the Proficiency Test in Chinese studies in the world.rubi

A total of 528 Confucius Institutes in 176 countries from all over the world fielded candidates for the examination.

UNIZIK Director of the Institute, Professor Job Yu Zhangbao disclosed this at the send forth in honour of 100 students of the university that bagged scholarships for further studies in China yesterday.

Zhangbao said that only two Confucius Institutes (CIs) offer the HSK advanced level lesson and examination in the world, saying that all the 21 students presented for the advanced HSK in 2019 passed the examination representing the highest in the world.

Giving a breakdown of the 134 scholarship offers, he said 38 were for Master degree; 31 for Bachelor’s degree; 42 for one year programme while 23 will attend a semester programme in China.

Prof. Zhangbao who described the CI in UNIZIK as the best in the world attributed the feat to hard work, perseverance and urged other students to work hard to build a reputation for themselves.

Dr Emma Anakwuba, representative of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone charged the recipients to be good ambassadors of Nigeria in China to create opportunities for more Nigerian students.

The VC attributed the excellent performance as evidence of good handling at the university and wished the varsity ambassadors a rewarding stay in China.

One of the scholars, Onyeka Samuel Ezinna, a graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Oko and offered a scholarship for a Master degree told DAILY INDEPENDENT about his enrollment in CI in 2014.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates and letter of offer to the beneficiaries.
