Wizkid is first African artiste to hit 8 million listeners

Famous Nigerian singer and songwriter Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, best known as Wizkid, has become the first African musician to hit eight million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Wizkid, who was reported to have 6.9 million monthly listeners, is having eight million followers with the recent songs he is featured:  “Dis love” by Dj Spinall, featuring Tiwa Savage, and “I like” by British-Ghananian rapper and singer Kojo Funds.

The previous record was held by Congolese rapper and singer Maitre Gims, who reportedly had seven million monthly listeners.

New update on the singer has it that he has deleted posts on his Instagram handle, without a hint on the new development. This action has however generated mixed feeling among his fans.
