THE ORGANIZERS

Rotaract Club was founded on the 13th of March at Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA in 1968 as a youth arm of Rotary International. “Rotaract” stands for “Rotary in Action”, although the name originally comes from a combination of “Rotary” and “Interact” (International + Action), the high school level program created by Rotary International in 1962.

After the success on Interact club for high school age youth in the early 1960’s the RI board created Rotaract in 1968. The new organization was design to promote responsible citizenship and leadership potentials in clubs of young men and women, aged 18-30, dedicated to giving young people across the world both collective voice and the mechanism to support global sustainable development, at the district and international levels, through the provision of educational resources, leadership opportunities, and a global network to support young people in developing entrepreneurial projects and campaigns to address global issues, while promoting ethical standards social equity, environmental quality, economic sustainability, cross cultural and intergenerational partnerships with strategic initiatives within the Rotary International, United Nations member states and agencies, IGOs, NGOs, Government missions, institutions and most importantly local youth led organizations.
