Off Page SEO: One-Way Links
A one way link is a website linking to you without you linking back. One-Way links are superior to reciprocal links and will give you more benefit then reciprocal links.
The search engines know that link exchange is an arrangement (you link to me, I link to you), they are not dumb. It is not a true measure of the quality of a site.
Hence search engines give a higher value to one-way links because for a webmaster to link to another site without expecting a link back, it means it is a quality site and recommended for his visitors to go check it out for more resources.
This happens all the time. You see a very good site and you link to it, for example you have an article which deals with a topic in summary, and at the end, you link to a site which is all about that topic. You earn the goodwill of your visitors who trust you to direct them where to go in search of more information.

Excellent Content
Having excellent unique content on your site will make other webmasters to link to your site without your asking them to. The best way to do this is to become an authority in your niche. When you excel in what you do, others will endorse you. This is the best way to get one-way links, and this establishes your authority even more in your niche, and top rankings in search engines. You cannot get here overnight. It requires months (even years) of consistent focused hard work of developing unique excellent content on your site.
