JAMB has announced dates for registration for the 2022 UTME/DE exams as follow:
Opening Date: Saturday February 12, 2022
Closing Date: Saturday March 19, 2022
JAMB processes applications for both UTME and Direct Entry. UTME is for secondary school leavers and those who need admission into 100 level or ND Programme in Nigeria while Direct Entry (DE) is for admission directly into 200 level and is for those who already have ND, HND, Jupeb, IJMB, or other A-Level programs Certificate.

Below are the requirements and process for registration and participation in the 2022 JAMB UTME/DE exams.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. For any person to be registered for UTME/DE, he/she must supply his/her National Identity Number (NIN). It is therefore mandatory for participation in the 2022 Registration Exercise
2. Registration will take place in about 700 centres across the country
   The list is available in all the state offices and JAMB’S website: www.jamb.gov.ng
3. The approved schedule for Registration and examination are as follows

• • Registration exercise will start on Saturday February 12, 2022 to Saturday March 19, 2022.
  • Candidates are also to note that the registration for DE applicants would run concurrently with that of UTME candidates. There would be no extension of time for the sale of the UTME/DE application documents.
  • Optional Mock will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 (for those who indicate interest)
  • The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination would hold from Friday May 6, 2022 to Monday May 16, 2022

4. The venue of the examination will be at any of the centres in the candidate’s chosen examination town
5. The total cost of registration for JAMB 2022 is N4,700 made up of
• • Cost of PIN registration – N3,500 (online vendors may charge an additional N500)
  • Compulsory Reading Text – N500
  • CBT Center Registration Charge – N700.
6. Information regarding other registration processes and requirements would be made available on the Board’s website and advertised in the electronics and print media.






The Process

1: CREATE AN EMAIL

Create a personal email, if you do not have one already. There are free email providers to choose from e.g. Gmail, Yahoo etc.

2: GET AN ACTIVE PHONE LINE

You need an active phone line that has never been used for UTME. This must be used exclusively by one candidate. MTN and Glo works best..

3: REGISTER FOR YOUR NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (NIN)

Register for your NIN if you have not done so already. Click here for the list of NIN enrolment centres nationwide. You can select the state you reside to see the list for your state of residence.

4: CREATE YOUR JAMB ONLINE PROFILE

You can create your JAMB online profile on https://portal.jamb.gov.ng. Fill the form online to create your profile. A mail will be sent to the email address you provided to confirm your email. Login to your mail box and click on the mail from JAMB to confirm your email. Be sure to check your email regularly, as JAMB will be communicating with you via this email. Important information and notifications shall be passed to you via this email. Keep your usernames and passwords in a safe place.

A 10 digit confirmation code will be sent to your email upon the successful registration of your profile. Important information and notifications shall be passed to you via this email.





5: GET YOUR PROFILE CODE

The next step is to get your profile code. The Profile Code is a 10 digit number required to obtain the JAMB e-pin for registration at Jamb accredited Registration centres.

Using your registered number, send NIN  space (11 digit number of NIN) to 55019 i.e.

NIN space 12345678901 (11 digit number of NIN)

Send to 55019

You will receive 10 digit number Profile code and registered name with NIMC. The phone number used automatically tied to candidate Profile code. It may work better with some network than others

6: PAY FOR JAMB E-PIN

This covers the payment for your JAMB form (UTME). Go to any bank that dispenses JAMB e-pin (they usually send a notification to their customers) or online payment platforms like quickteller.com, pay.jumia.com.ng etc., with your profile code to pay for your e-pin.  A typical fee is N4,000 which includes the fee for your JAMB form (or application fee, since the form is no longer in a printed format) and other charges by the vendor.

7: REGISTRATION AT A JAMB ACCREDITED REGISTRATION CENTRE

You need to register in person at a JAMB accredited registration centre of your choice. Click here for list of JAMB registration accredited centres

You will be asked to fill the registration form. A sample form is shown below at the end of this article. You can review and have the information handy when going to the centre.





At the centre you will:

1. Pay a registration fee of N700
2. Provide your biodata and other details
3. Provide choice of university and courses
4. Provide qualifications (if not awaiting result)
5. Provide UTME subjects and choice of examination town for Mock (optional) and actual JAMB.
6. Do biometric capture (picture and 10 fingers)
7. Review entries and confirm they are correct.
8. Collect free JAMB recommended novel for Use of English 2021 – The Life Changer by Khadija Abubakar Jalli
9. A CD containing JAMB brochure, syllabus and messages from JAMB Registrar
10. A registration slip

The mock exam is optional. It is usually conducted by accredited CBT centres to prepare and familiarise interested Candidates with the CBT environment.

8: CENTRE ALLOCATION

After your registration is completed successfully, you will be notified of your centre before the day of the exams. This is done online by re-printing your JAMB slip. The slip shows your exam date, time and centre. Printing your JAMB slip typically commences 7 days before your exam date. You will receive a notification to print your slip or the slip may be sent to you via email. You need to print a copy to take to your exam centre on your exam date





9: TAKING THE UTME EXAMINATION

The exams are multiple choice and computer based. It is important that you practice both your chosen subjects and actual taking of the exams in order to be familiar with computer based tests. Don’t wait until the day of the exam to have your first experience with CBT. Practice till you get comfortable with it, how to operate the buttons to answer the questions and move to the next question, and how to manage yourself within the time allocated.  You get to know what you can do and what you cannot do with CBT. Practice makes perfect.

The Time for Jamb is 2 hours – 60 questions from Use of English and 40 questions each from your 3 other subjects.

There are past question papers, both print and online you can practice with. The JAMB Recommended books are found at the end of every Jamb Syllabus. Some centres also prepare students for mock JAMB exams to help prepare for the real thing. All the best with your preparations.
