Are smartphones on the way to replace computers?

Smartphones are getting better, bigger, more advanced, and companies are using highly developed technologies to ensure the users the best experience possible. Due to this, mobile phones are now like computers, they can do everything a PC could do, while being handy, and as the name suggests, more mobile. Does this mean that smartphones will replace computers as we know them today, or rather PCs will undergo a drastic change?

What makes smartphones so popular?

Even a decade ago, a person with a mobile phone used it only for communication – to call or send a message. That was about it. A simple device, easy to use and did not require a lot of attention until it was buzzing in your ear. When cameras were added, a mobile phone could take a picture or two, but only when necessary because the quality of those photographs was rather poor. Then, in the course of only a few years, smartphones have changed entirely. They have become tiny computers with all the possibilities that PCs give and more. They can serve as a means of communication, a small computer or a camera.

This versatility is the main reason for the constantly growing popularity of smartphones all over the world. You only need to carry one device, not even an especially large one, to have access to the Internet or different business tools. Wherever you are, even thousands of miles from home, you can reach for your mobile phone and write an e-mail, make a draft of a document or participate in an online meeting. You don’t even need a laptop because mobile phones can do all that.

When traveling, your smartphone is your best companion. It allows you to plan the trip using the Internet, navigate with the GPS signal, communicate with the world and take pictures. Imagine that decades ago you would need a paper map, a phone, a camera and who knows what else. Now, you have all these devices in one.

There is yet another reason why smartphones are so popular. They are now the main source of entertainment for millions of people. Mobile phones allow users to listen to music or watch movies and TV shows – with the highest quality possible, fast connection and best sound available. Smartphones are also a great device for games of all kinds, including video games but not only. You can enjoy real blood-rushing entertainment wherever you are. Your smartphone can turn into, e.g., your private casino. Sites with online casinos are adjusted to mobile devices, so you can use platforms like VegasSlotsOnline to safely bet and play from any place with only the use of your mobile device and play some mobile slots. It was never easier to win money and have fun.

Are smartphones new computers?

As smartphones are getting more advanced with every passing year, the question arises about their and computers’ future. Are PCs endangered? The truth is that many experts claim that computers are in decline. However, it is not yet possible to clearly state whether they are right or wrong. A great number of people believe that a smartphone can never replace the good old PC in everyday work because, in the long run, using a mobile device is not as comfortable as it might seem. When it comes to convenience, computers are still ahead of smartphones.

On the other hand, there is no point denying that PCs are closer to death than ever before. It might happen in a few years that they will be completely eliminated from the market because there will be no need for them. No demand, no supply.

The trend of switching computers for smartphones and using mobile devices for all activities and tasks is growing. Students are now writing essays, doing homework and studying with the use of a cellphone. The chances are that this trend will not stop and go back but will rather expand even more. So, although it is not easy to answer the question about the future of computers yet, more and more experts lean towards the affirmative answer. After all, the mobile phones won’t get any worse, and computers won’t get any more mobile because then, they would simply turn into mobile devices, pseudo-smartphones.
