LASU students win 2021 Don Etiebet Innovative prize award.

Two students of the Department of Computer Science, Lagos State University (LASU), Aniyikaiye Emmanuel Oluwafemi and Akowanu Ganiu Oluwaseto, have emerged winners and first runner-up, respectively, in the recently held 2021 Don Etiebet Innovative Prize award organised by Nigeria Computer Society (NCS).

Aniyikaiye, supervised by Prof. M.A Rahman, came first for his project titled: “Object tracking and detention in videos,” while Akowanu, supervised by Dr. E.O Enikuomehin, came second for his project, titled: “Development of the anti-theft mobile application.”
   
Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Shehu Akintola, at a brief presentation in the vice Chancellor’s office, said the two representatives defeated their counterparts from other universities in the national competition as their software was adjudged the best among all the entries. 
 
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, congratulated the students for making the university proud. 

Olatunji-Bello commended the students and their supervisors for doing a great job and rewarded them with cash gifts.

The Don Etiebet Innovative Prize is a yearly competition for Computer Science Students in Nigerian universities to showcase software projects they developed.

The winning makes it the fourth time in a row that LASU students will be winning the competition.
