Former Lagos State Deputy Governor Otunba Femi Pedro, co-founder, Lagos Island Connect (LIC), Ms. Yemisi Ransome-Kuti, Erelu Kuti of Lagos, Dr Chevalier Abiola Dosunmu are among notable development advocates leading discussions at the first Lagos-Island Economic Summit.
The Summit with the theme: “Sustainable youth engagement and development” is organised by the Lagos State Office of Sustainable Development Goals and Investment in partnership with the Lagos Island Connect (LIC).
It is scheduled for Tuesday 16th November, 2021.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and Investment Mrs. Solape Hammond, explained said the summit is part of a strategy to effectively leverage on extensive human and capital resources to drive economic growth and development in the state and political problems.
She noted that LIC in partnership with the Lagos State Office of the Sustainable Development Goals & Investment (OSDGI) has developed and would unveil a first in class 2-kilometre rule at the summit.
According to her, the business model would encourage businesses within a 2-kilometre radius of Lagos-Island to hire youths and patronise businesses run by them.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Mr. Lekan Fatodu said the summit would foster economic growth, creation of jobs and ensure millions of youths are lifted out of poverty.
Other personalities in the public and private sectors to grace the event include, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Segun Dawodu; Commissioner for Commerce, Dr. Lola Akande; former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State, Mr. Olasupo Sashore, Managing Director, Imperial Homes Mortgage Bank, Mr. Ayo Olowookere, Lagos Youth Ambassador, Ms. Akanni-Shele Funmilayo,among others.
