This involves selling other people's products for a commission (normally in the range of 5 - 15% for "real" products and 20 - 50% or more for e-products (e-books, software etc).

The beauty of affiliate marketing is that it hones your marketing skills and prepares you for the transition to ultimately selling your own proucts.

There is hardly any well known Affiliate Merchants in Nigeria, which means you will likely be dealing with foreign entities that accept to do business with Nigerian marketers, and send your payment via Paypal, Egold etc.

There are a few different ‘styles’ to affiliate marketing that you can follow:

· Single Review Style
· Multiple Review Style
· Salespage (pre selling/conversion)
· Related/Mention
· Authority Style

Each of these styles of sites must have some sort of information to support the product, be it articles, tips, ideas, pictures etc. that gives the user value in their experience and puts them in the frame of mind to click the link.

Single Review Style
This is where your entire site is centered on a single affiliate program. If you find a good affiliate program that you know can overdeliver on its promise. Ideally it should be a product/service you have a first hand experience with, which you can recommend, a service with great customer service and has fantastic customer loyalty. You have to run with a winner, as your site will sink or swim with it. Make sure that you setup a review section of the product and have some sort of “We Recommend” or “Sponsored By” section on each of the pages so that at every point the user can see or can get to the review of that affiliate program. The content on the site is related to the affiliate program and flows logically to the point where the visitor needs to take action by clicking on the link.

Multiple Review Style
This is where you feature various programs and do a review on each, without recommending a particular product. If they are all your affiliate products, head or tail, you win. People tent to trust multiple review sites as they are seen as unbiased. When a site recommends a specific product and keeps praising that product, the perception from the consumer is that that opinion is biased towards that product. However, when there are multiple products or services all being reviewed side by side; it looks like an objective review. To retain credibility, you have to be object, and avoid pushing what you are not sure of, or the subsequent loss of credibility will drive your customers away, and generate negative word of mouth publicity
