Thousands of Lagos residents gathered at the Bar Beach in an atmosphere of pomp, fanfare and festival to experience what was described as the biggest New Year Crossover Festival in Africa, the Lagos Countdown 2013.

Over 50 of the finest Nigerian artists thrilled the excited audience with performances. 2face, D’banj, Olamide, Banky W, Eldee and Don Jazzy were among some of the artists that thrilled the audience when they mounted the stage.

The countdown drew attendance from all walks of life including the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akinolu; the First Lady of Lagos Sate, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola; Former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, members of the Lagos State cabinet and other important personalities.

The highest point of the event was at 11.59p.m. when a magnificent fireworks display lightened the skyline lasting for over 30 minutes perhaps the best ever witnessed here in Nigeria.

“This is a welcome development from the Lagos State Government, people travel across the world to experience the cross over tradition in major cities of the world, it is not a bad idea if Lagos State also becomes a place where people would want to visit just to experience our crossover festival.
