Students and educators across select primary schools in Ibadan, Oyo State have commended Henkel’s Researchers’ World programme on its efforts to empower young talents through science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Teachers and students from the seven schools where Researchers’ World was conducted over the past several months have asserted that the initiative have rejuvenated a notable level of interest from students to pursue careers in the world of science.
Mrs. Ganiyu S. A., Headmistress, Michael Basic School 1, Apata, Ibadan, on the impact of the training, described it as productive and a good step in the right direction, for which she looks forward to more because the learners that participated in the training previously found it useful in addressing knowledge gaps.
According to her, they learned about how to make good use of homemade materials to practice science given the types of scientific experiments the students were taken through.
She commended Henkel for the opportunity while looking forward to having more of such sessions in the future to include more students.
On his part, Ogunbiyi Praise, of St. Michael Basic School 7, the training has reignited his interest in becoming a future scientist as the practical experiments opened his mind to previously unknown facts.
Several of the students expressed their appreciation to Henkel for making their scientific dreams come alive and are now encouraged to pursue them.
