Premier League: Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis Makes History.

Emmanuel Dennis: Watford Football Club

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Emmanuel Dennis started his professional football career with Zorya Luhansk in Ukraine’s Premier League. In May 2017, he signed for the number 42 shirt at Club Brugge KV in Belgium. In September 2019, he debuted for the Nigerian national team in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ukraine. Emmanuel has also represented Nigeria at the youth level.

In September, Watford FC announced the signing of Emmanuel from Club Brugge on a five-year contract. Dennis scored on his debut as Watford beat Aston Villa 3-2 at Vicarage Road in the League Cup, one of the many exciting things to look forward to when you bet on Premier League today.

The Road to Fame for Dennis

Dennis grew up in Lagos and went to school at The Foundation Academy, Warri. Educated in Nigeria, Dennis was active with the under-15 team for Junior Football Academy and Lagos Youth Soccer.

Following a move to Ukraine at the age of 16, the midfielder took up a different path which led him to play in some of Europe’s top leagues. He played for Zorya Luhansk from 2016 to 2018 before his transfer to Club Brugge KV where he stayed until September 2019 when he moved on to Watford FC.

Emmanuel is on record as saying that his football journey has been one worth recounting from starting at a very young age back in Nigeria. In an interview, the midfielder said “I started playing football at a very young age but I thank God that I was able to go through these levels. However, at 17 I went to Ukraine and it all started from there.”

Emmanuel celebrated his birthday on September 4th this year celebrating what he called a “journey behind me.”

The midfielder who began playing football in Lagos is now an international footballer with Nigeria where he has received appreciation for his performance against Argentina in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He scored both goals, becoming Nigeria’s leading goal scorer since the match against Argentina in 2019.

He has broken the long-standing record for most goals scored in a Nigeria shirt by an African player.

What Emmanuel Dennis Brings to Watford FC

Dennis brings some star quality to Watford. He brings speed, creativity, and a good eye for goal. His skills are complemented by his height which makes it easy to make predictions about the Premier League.

Off the pitch, he is an active member of many charity events. He was once called “one of the most promising young footballers” by Forbes magazine in Nigeria. The midfielder has also been commended for fighting racism through different projects including #WeAreAfrica.

The Hornets (Watford FC)

Dennis has been an integral part of Claudio Ranieri’s Hornets, who remain at 17th in the league table after 16 Premier League games. The talented 24-year-old has seven goals and six assists in his last four league outings for Watford, who are fourth on 13 points after losing to Brentford on the Bee’s home turf at Brentford Community Stadium.

Emmanuel Dennis has had a tremendous season with Watford Football Club so far, having already scored against Chelsea, Manchester United, Leicester City, Aston Villa, not forgetting Everton. He has adapted easily into what many consider to be the best league in the world.

Four Divisions of English Football

Dennis, nicknamed ‘The Nigerian Neymar’, has made history by being the first African-born player to play in all four divisions of English football. He has played in the Premier League, Championship, League One, and League Two.

Dennis’s goal at the King Power Stadium against Leicester City (even though Watford lost the match) means that he is the 6th player in the competition’s history to play in all four divisions. Here are the others Eric Cantona (The King), Jurgen Klinsmann (Flipper), Arjen Robben (Boyke), Andrey Arshavin (Shava), and Bruno Fernandes (Magnifico) to have achieved that feat.

What makes Emmanuel Dennis an exceptional player?

Emmanuel has done very well at Watford Football Club and is showing greater potential with every game he plays. His goals against Chelsea, Manchester United, Leicester City, and Aston Villa attest to that.

“I know this will be hard as I’m only 24 but hopefully one day I can achieve my dream of playing for Nigeria at the World Cup,” Emmanuel told Nigerian Football after his debut for Nigeria.

Pundits predict that he will go on to shine brightly in the coming years and potentially play for a club like Real Madrid or Barcelona before reaching the age of 30.

How far will Emmanuel Dennis’s career take him?

With his recent form and performance, we can safely say that Emmanuel will go on to achieve greater things in his career. His goals and assists for Watford FC are clear indications of his exceptional talent, and we can only wait to see more from him as the season progresses.
