Fajuyi Park Ekiti

Situated in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, in memory of the late Col. Adekunle Fajuyi, the former military governor of the Western region who was killed along with General Aguiyi Ironsi during the first military coup in Nigeria, the Park is home to the final resting place of the late soldier. Tourists who are interested in researching Fajuyi’s heroic exploits and the events leading to the civil war in Nigerian history always find their way to the place.

The Park is equipped with a fountain, game archade, children playground, mini-museum/archival centre, restaurant/bar and GSM telephone booths for visitors and tourists. The popular Fajuyi Memorial Park in the heart of Ado-Ekiti is one of the tourist attractions made prominent by successful governments in Ekiti State, and is meant to boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the state.

The Park was built to serve as the last resting place in honour of the late former governor of the old Western region of Nigeria, Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi, who was also an indigene of the community.
